Hooray for another 2 pounds lost!! That is fabulous news. And to Mike...may you have a speedy and as pain free as possible recovery! Sending healing thoughts your way :)

Janssen

Congratulations on the weight loss and good luck with the surgery (and as much as I hate to say it, I do think men are more of complainers about illness than women).

jodifur

Um, I've lost 7 pounds in 4months! Ask me how much I hate you right now?

Sending good vibes to Mike? May ask what the surgery is for?

Kristie

Oh, no! Surgery?! ICK. I hope that he heels really really fast and isn't too whiny for you. I can just hear the sad pathetic voice he will be talking in. ;-)

And, you are doing awesome! 7.4 pounds!! Wonderful! I think a pair of shoes is in order for the 10 pound goal. Sorry, Mike. Ha!

Kristabella

Congrats on the weight loss! I gained this week. And even know how this WW thing is supposed to work. But I chose burrito, pizza and beer over vegetables.

But I had a hell of a time! So here's to a good week for me! (And you too, of course!)

And here's to good thoughts for Mike's surgery! And tequila.

alyndabear

Well done, my dear! I do believe high fives are in order!

Hoping Mike's surgery goes smoothly, let him know a crazy Aussie is thinking of him!

Rebecca

Go girl on the weight loss!! WOOHOO!! & I feel your pain on whinybags...I mean Wully...my hubs is a major whiner when he "feels something in his throat" aka drainage!

Nicole

Hooray for weight loss! You are doing amazing J! Yes, I'm calling you J right now. Hope Mike's surgery goes well! Take care of yourself Mike, enjoy being spoiled!

Raven

Congrats on the weight loss!!

All men are right babies when they are sick or recovering but you'll both make it through it fine!

Mojo for you both :)

Elizabeth

I asked my husband (who had this same surgery) what his advice would be, and this was it:

Embrace the suck.

No, seriously -- it's gonna hurt, take the painkillers, and enjoy physical therapy. Try to have someone there to help you at first, and plan to take like a week off.

If you hate sleeping on your back, try to find a comfy way to get used to it, as you'll have to sleep on your back for about 4 months afterwards (give or take a few weeks).

When I had mine done, it was by a guy who was the major shoulder repair dude for U of M -- and everyone else who was in there with me (there were eight of us that had had the proceedure done at the same time) were all sports people. When it came time for him to actually see me -- he totally blew me off and spent all his time with one of the football players. He saw us as a group. If you have questions, be demanding, and get them answered BY THE DOCTOR WHO'S DOING THE SURGERY -- and not one of his flunkeys or lackeys or whatever. I had almost NO interaction with the doctor, and I still kind of have a bad taste in my mouth regarding how it was done. No... actually, that's probably the green apple jolly rancher I just ate. Anyway. You know what I mean.

"Some pizza is better than no pizza" needs to be my new adopted motto. Maybe I should put it on a t-shirt.

Kelly

Woohoo! Congrats on the loss... and more skinny vibes to you! And yes, I'm a fellow pizza sucker... mmm... want some now...

Good luck Mike with the surgery! I know how you feel though, Jennie. Being with a man who acts like he's about to die from a cold, oh, I know what you mean. Maybe you can take his mind off it with more shoe purchases?
(You know you want to!)

Kelly

Me again!
How are the skinny vibes going?

Dropping a line to let you know that I've tagged you for the 7 Weird/Random Facts About Me meme... my first one ever! Whee!

EmilyPie

I know several people that have suceeded (and maintained after loosing)on WW plan. It does seem rather manageable. Good luck!

I know all too well what baby-ish hubby's are like when mild sniffles are involved. I hope Mike's surgery goes very well for him .. with a speedy recovery.

Angella

Congrats on the loss!! It is always exciting to hear of people learning balanced living and enjoying it.

Praying for a speedy recovery for Mike. And that tequila magically appears on your door step ;)

stephanie

lots of positive vibes from way far away coming your way, mike! (yeah, from the freak who's never met you but thinks you and your wife (who i HAVE met and love) are the cutest things everrrrrr). seriously, dude - sorry about the surgery. hope it goes smoothly.
and whoo-hoo! 7.4 pounds! best way to celebrate? buy a piece of clothing, a size smaller. :)

Larissa

Congratulations on the weight loss. I've been trying to lose weight too...and I can now fit into pairs of pants that I wore my junior year of college. Whooo!

Natalie

Yay for shedding those pounds!!!
I hope Mike's surgery goes well, I'll be thinking of him. And I'll be thinking about you being stressed out! xoxoxo

crooked halo

Since you're doing so kick-assedly at the WW plan online, I wanted to ask ya somethin'. I'm torn between joining up online and going to the meetings (they're super close to my house). The only reason I was tempted to try the meetings is because I know they give you a little slidey thing to calculate points of food while you're at the grocery store, which is where I would make my purchasing decisions. Any recommendations?

I send non-whiney, quick recovery thoughts to you and "Wully." I think I'm the whiney when sick one. My husband just gets cranky because he hates not being able to do thing - hates being waited on, etc. Neither one is particularly pleasant. **Happy thoughts!**

CrankMama

I'm a South Bitch Diet (eating plan) girl myself, but I must say you're making WW look very attractive. Getting to have even SOME pizza is absolutely A WHOLE HELLUVA LOT!

Props to you on the 7.4 pounds sista! That's almost the equivalent of an entire bag of sugar. I find visuals helpful... And of course lots of luv and speedy/whine-free recovery vibes are headed your way.

anne

awesome on the continued weight loss. really that rocks. don't they say that sex is like pizza, at least youre getting some?

oh and best wishes and good luck to your husband!

Princess Extraordinaire

Way to go with the weight loss! Not an easy feat to acheive - just keep taking it one day at a time and you'll make your goal...I am sending good energy and thoughts to both of you - him for his surgery and you for having to deal with him and his surgery..lol

Michelle

hope the surgery goes well! i would send tequila if i could!! ;)

Dianna

Whohoo, my online weight loss partner. Didn't know you were, did you? You're doing great! I've only lost 3, but that's better than nothing!

Kitty

Best wishes to Mike for a good surgery, and to you for not killing him while he's recovering.

Post Of The Day

  • Secrets
You’re only as unique as the secrets you keep. Go do something good. Go do something evil. In solitude and love, it’s beyond good and evil. Go do these things and tell no one. Let them quicken the throb of your heart and the pace of your blood and, as you become your own poem, watch who you become. People will see it in your eyes—not the content of your secrets—but the fact that you have secrets, that you know and have seen secret things. They will love you and hate you, want to possess and destroy you.
