Post Of The Day

  • Her Bad Mother
"This is a truth about being a parent that nothing and no-one can prepare you for: that it is a continual experience of loss, a never-ending stream of moments of goodbye. That from the moment your children come into your life you are losing them. That the person your child is today is a person you will never meet again, a person that you will, in some ways, forget, as he or she is replaced by new people, bigger people, faster people, people with more words, people with more independence, people whose primary purpose is to move continually away from you."

I posted this last week in the main section of my site, but I wanted to post again. I'm having a hard time watching my baby grow so fast, and it's comforting to read my thoughts written by someone else (and written much, much better).

I got rid of a lot of shoes during our recent move. Basically, I cleared some closet space for new shoes! I like these in "whisper pink" or "bright bayberry." I don't like the $168 price tag.

Mike and I saw this the other night, and it started at ELEVEN AT NIGHT. I didn't think I'd make it through 20 minutes, even though we paid something like $50 dollars to be there. But, yeah, that wasn't a problem. Hilarious.

(Almost) 30 Weeks

I haven't posted a belly picture in a while and that's because the point-and-shoot's battery died a few weeks ago, and we can't find the battery charger. Probably because we haven't looked for the battery charger. But, I went to the doctor today, and what's the point of a boring stats-update post -- that I'm only writing to look back on five years from now -- without throwing you a bone and showing you the belly.

First things first, the boy is grand. I was lamenting to the doctor right before the Doppler portion of the appointment that although my son is very active, I just don't think he's active enough. I feel him daily, sure, but I've yet to scold him for sticking his toes in my ribs, and that's kind of something I was looking forward to, the first time I could yell at my child for doing something I yell at Molly for doing once a night, at least. "And he's definitely not being active this afternoon," I worried. She put her hands on my bare stomach and said, "There he is! Oh, there he is again! He's rolling now." Talk about making your mother look a hair dramatic, son, thanks for that.

His heartbeat was 140. My blood pressure was great. My weight was ... well ... must we? My doctor isn't concerned, and I'm still in the very respectable realm of normal weight gain (25-35 pounds in 40 weeks), but that scale sure did have to work a bit harder than usual this afternoon. I am going to try to be a bit more conscious these last 10 weeks, and although I know this is the only time in my life I can have fourths without raising too many eyebrows, I'm going to be more aware (not obsessive) of what I'm consuming.

Other than that, he had the hiccups while she was finding his heartbeat, and I almost cried from the adorableness of it. Right after that he kicked me, hard, as if to say, Mama, when you declared being smarter about what you eat, you didn't mean you were giving up donuts altogether, right? No, love, the donuts stay.

Just about 10 weeks left. I can't wait to meet you, kid.

adorable. You (and the boy) will be so happy to have a written record of all this, some day.

You look gorgeous!

This is the cutest ever. I can't believe you're only 10 weeks out. And I can't get over the cuteness of fetal hiccups.

You look great!

I'm at 28 weeks as of yesterday so I am right behind you. I asked the doctor about how active the little one should be because like you I dont feel constant movements. He just laughed and said..Umm yeah well...she does sleep a lot in there. Oh yeah! :) Over the last week though she has gotten lot's more active in the morning and late evening. It's a great feeling. I truly never ever thought I would love the feeling as much as I do :)

You are the cutest ever. Have a donut for me :)

I must say, protruding belly aside, you look very skinny everywhere else! I would totally be one of those bloated pregnant women who put on an even 10 pounds--on every single digit of her body!

Sounds like it was a great appointment! And I think you are definitely looking skinny!

You look great!! I'm so excited for you.

Those are my pants! You look adorable.

30 weeks already! Time is really flying, isn't it? You really look so great and I'm so excited for you and Mike. And Molly!

You look amazing! Seriously.

Aww, baby hiccups must feel so unusual! Do they feel like your own hiccups, just deeper? In any case, you look fabulous and have such a cute baby bump :)

10 more weeks! So exciting!

AWE!! How cute are you?!!!

Lookin' fab. And I love the dark hair!

Oh stop! You look great!

I can't believe it is only 10 weeks away! Seems like just yesterday!

YOU LOOK AMAAAAAAAAZING. Tre tre chic. Truly. You rock that belly, mama.

You look so fabulous. I must say I get so happy whenever I see a new belly pic from you on my flickr activity. Though I must say, this has been going by so quickly! pretty soon we will get to see that little boy!

You look so cute Jennie. I can't wait to see your little boy's face. Yeee Hawww for you already making it to the final stetch!

You look great! And I don't blame either of you, the donuts must stay!
