1.

I am SOOOO super jealous about your trip to NYC. As I mentioned before the Sunburnt Cow is excellent brunch place run by Aussies and has bottomless Mimosas. Although they think a TX burger is something with eggs on it! Also there is carmine's in time square (family style) and frozen belini's. There is S'Mac which is a only serves mac n' cheese place. I went to this place down in Little India, that it teeny tiny, and you must tell them that it is your bday! I just don't know the name of it...I remember it was right off a subway stop....

2.

LOVE love love that coat. I am jealous, yet have absolutely no reason -- as a Floridian -- to own that coat. Sigh.

3.

He seems like a really tall baby?! I don't know what we're doing for our son's 1st b-day party yet either. All I know is I need to get going on the finger foods so I can be certain that he doesn't choke to death when I set him up to shove cake in his mouth.

4.

I hope you have a great time in NYC - that place seriously holds a special place for me. So sorry I won't get to meet you, but it will happen in January hopefully.

As far as your little man, the pants with the buttons? Make him look so grown up! I can't stand it!

5.

Laurie, you know, he's always been a pretty average baby in height but I think he's shot up the last couple months. We go for his 9-month well in a couple weeks, so we'll see!

6.

I LOVE the rocking chair series! We're going to have to do our own version with little bean :) As for a theme, my husband and I would probably go with SPACE. Because space is rad.

7.

Holly! Mike would probably opt for space too because, uh, he's a total space nerd (in the geeks-are-hot kind of way)!

8.

Oh, H&M, H&M!!! That's one of the first things I do in NYC. Sad but true. Also, the Anthropologie on 5th Ave. is so pretty and has an entire BASEMENT full of sale stuff.

9.

three boys here, the three first birthday parties themes were:
legos
balloons
very hungry catepillar cupcake cake

really, that describes the cakes i made, and then i just got papergoods to match!

whatever you do, just get/bake kyle his own
"smash" cake to let him go to town in his highchair all by himself. the pictures are priceless and everyone loves watching how it unfolds.

10.

I agree with Laurie! I said on a photo of him on Flickr that he looked really long-limbed, which kind of sounds awkward, but he does! Looks like he's going to be tall!

11.

I made cupcakes that looked like monkeys and lions. The tablecloth and plates were white with polka dots in primary colors. Then we bought a bunch of balloons in primary colors. Ta da!

12.

For our son's first we went with a primary color theme and cupcakes! Since he didn't have many interests of his own we just made it colorful! He did love the theme song from the Backyardigans so we got him a Backyardigans balloon. We did his party at 11a so he could have his nap. For baby girl, we did her 1st bday party at 3pm so that we only had to provide cupcakes and drinks. HAHA!!! HOW BAD IS THAT?!!? We do it up big for the 1st and I wasn't providing food for everyone...AGAIN. ahah! Like I said...that's bad! My baby boy will be 3 Tuesday. I can't believe it.

13.

I bought a half-off Old Navy coat, too! But I ordered mine online (extra 30% off!) and now I am still waiting for it to arrive. Hmph.

14.

He is SO big compared to what he used to be! So cute!! He has a perfect smile! What are you guys planning for the 1st birthday?

15.

he's been such a cutie right from the start!! amazing to see him go from that little baby to a little boy in nine short months. and what a fun little guy to come home to :)

16.

I went to this place down in Little India, that it teeny tiny, and you must tell them that it is your bday! I just don't know the name of it...I remember it was right off a subway stop.

17.

Ohmigosh, look at his little jeans and collared shirt! Such a little man. Have a blast in the Big Apple! I'm already counting the days til BlogHer 10--I miss NYC!

18.

He does look like his legs have gotten WAY longer. Also - the last time I was in NY, I worked so much that all I had to say for my trip was that I saw the inside of three different Kinkos stores. Wheee!!!

19.

He's gotten so tall! And lanky. Heartbreaker.

20.

He is growing up into such a handsome little boy! I can't believe how fast it's gone by!

21.

I make a cup of tea to drink in the car and breakfast is handfuls of cereal while I'm driving to the office. It is the nice feeling in the morning to take hot cup of tea.

Post Of The Day

  • Drowning in Kids
"I have noticed since december i have been unfollowed and unfriended by most of my local acquaintances. I have noticed parents being more protective of their kids around my kids."

It doesn't take much to be afraid or, rather, to teach fear. It takes much more to teach kindness. I'd rather you judge me like mad for how I'm raising my son than to ever teach him to avoid people with flaws.

Really cute, although a little long. Also, I don't find Alec Baldwin nearly as charming or funny as the rest of the world. I do find both John Krasinski and Hunter Parrish charming enough to make up for him, though.

I just loved this movie and although no two hours spent with George Clooney could ever be considered bad, it was smart, funny, different, refreshing and sad all at once. Anna Kendrick is fantastic, too.
