I don't like the word 'resolutions'. To me, that sounds like you fell so short the year before you have to make a resolution to improve. Instead, I like the idea of fresh starts with big goals and bigger dreams.
I think 2010 is going to be a pretty kick-ass year. I have a feeling.
So, some things I'd like to do next year:
1. Throw a mimosa brunch for my best friends.
2. Spend a weekend in College Station with Mike.
3. Take a few steps in the right direction of starting an organization that provides resources, encouragement and support to new moms.
4. Put together a book of memories I've been meaning to make for a special someone. (Purposefully cryptic!)
5. Run a 5K, then a 10K, then a half-marathon.
6. Host a holiday ornament exchange and cookie decorating party.
7. Make great strides in being the kind of friend who remembers and acknowledges birthdays better.
8. Introduce Kyle to all the family he hasn't gotten to meet yet.
9. Own a great pair of investment jeans.
10. Take a vacation, no matter to where or when, with just my husband. We've earned it.
11. Read at least 20 books. I can't remember the last year I did this. (2004, maybe?)
12. Write all my addresses into my file box.
13. Buy nightstands for our bedroom.
14. Let only good, genuine things motivate me.
15. Throw Kyle a kick-ass birthday party (making the invitations and a banner all on my own!)
16. Make fitness and health a priority.
17. Buy a pretty dress (like this or this or this) and wear it out on the town, with my husband on my arm.
18. Continue creating awesome, fun and inspiring content on Style Lush. (With the help of the awesome writers.) Also, host a Style Lush dinner at BlogHer 2010.
19. Make a dentist appointment.
20. Make crab cakes, chicken masala and cinnamon buns (from scratch).
21. Look fabulous at my 10-year high school reunion.
22. Buy some art for our (bare) walls.
23. Take Kyle to an A&M football game.
24. Learn to drive a stick (uh, this has been on my goals list for years; time to buckle down!).
25. Watch The Wire.
Tell me, what do you want to do in 2010?

2010 BETTER be a good year is all I gotta say.
I love your list. Made me feel inspired. I'm with you on most of them, especially health/fitness.
Another thing I'd like to do? Print out all the photos stuck on our computer and frame/organize them. Because really, let them see the light of day for goodness sakes!

I love this. I really need to make a dentist appointment too.
(Dude, you haven't watched The Wire yet?!)

This has inspired me in so many ways. I'm going to do my own list (and I share some of your goals - I think Book Club will help with that!)
Happy almost-2010!

This is a fabulous list. And 2010 is going to be a fabulous year!

Yes - I have to watch The Wire too!
#3 made me think of this organization here in Western Massachusetts (

Apparently I want to go to BlogHer 2010. ;)
I need to sit down and do a list like this...maybe once I finish Christmas. ALMOST DONE! I am so excited about that.

Ack! That didn't work. MotherWoman (http://www.motherwoman.org/our-programs/) is an organization here that might be an interesting prototype for your activisty pursuits....

2010 better be a kick-ass year. I'm with you on the running goals, and the Style Lush dinner at BlogHer. Also, I really want to attend Blathering 2010. And a million other things---great list. xo

Awesome list! I would love a StyleLush dinner!

Have a happy, healthy baby (I should probably lay off the caffeine, eh?)
Run a half-marathon
Pay off debt except for house, and new car to carry said baby.
Send Christmas cards
Some other stuff, but I can't think of it right now because of my afternoon pregnancy lull.
P.S. The mimosa brunch is a great idea! :)

I have a great book for you to start with! It is very quick read, and it is written in letter format, so it easy to put down and pick up whenever you have 5 minutes. The title is Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, you can borrow my copy.

I'm right there with you on number 24. Sadly I STILL don't know how even though my car died in August and the only car we've had since then IS a stick. Any time I need to go somewhere while my husband is at work I take my mom's car. I think I'm officially pathetic.

I want to go to Blogher and to our SL dinner- but alas, this kid is coming at the same time.... Maybe 2011?
I need to work daily to find balance in my life as I raise one child, grown another and remember my own health, mentally and physically.
This coming year will be full of challanges and if I can keep myself well maybe I will be suited for the task of raising 2 kids. (gulp!)

For your book list, I recommend The Book Thief. Great stuff. And really, The Wire should be on the top of your list, even if it is just a tv show.

Love the list - and I agree with so much of it. I need to make some goals and I'm going to try to draft a list while on vacation next week (sadly, not just with my husband so I can't copy that from your list and then quickly cross it off). I hope you get all that you want in the new year!

Great list! I'm going back to work in 2010. (Taking a semester off from teaching to go back to work in my field for a few months.) I"m really excited about it! My number one resolution, though, is to drink more water.

If you lived in my town, I'd totally teach you how to drive stick. I love, love, love driving stick.

I want to run a 5k too, but I'm stopping right there. The idea of running more than that just doesn't appeal. Oh, shameless self-promotion here: I make art, so you should stop by and check it out. I even do giveaways from time to time.

Your number 14 is brilliant and if you don't mind me borrowing it, it'll get added to my To Do in 2010 list. Top of mine will definitely be to make the most of my life - to do things I enjoy and am passionate about.

Whatever you're doing I WANT TO DO IT ALSO (including that Style Lush dinner at Blog Her. If only I could get tickets. and then afford the travel. And then not be annoyed by everyone there who is fighting over swag. If only there was a homey-er, less expensive, less fake option? In Chicago this coming fall perhaps? Hmmmm....)

I love this list!

Ooh, learning how to drive a stick! I did that last year. It was terrifying and I may have blubbered a lot to Steve, "I don't want to do this!!!!"
#5. I've already started training. Can't wait.

The thing I would most like to do, and probably the single most difficult thing for me to actually do:
Learn how to approach the world with less anxiety and more joy. My son is 4 months old, and I'm aware that he'll become more and more aware of how anxious I am about everything. I want to be a different kind of role model for him. I have no idea how to do this, but it's what I'd really, really like to work on in 2010!

Love your list! I just went to the dentist after not going for a long time..I mean a really long time. Definitely apart of making health a priority :)
When I got to my "I feel good weight" I bought my first pair of designer jeans, Sevens. Boy oh boy did they look good and I felt good in them. My goal is to fit back into them after this baby is born!
The Wire is awesome :)

At the risk of sounding like a total idiot, what exactly are "investment jeans"?

Regarding your #3 (starting an org for new moms) you may want to check out PEPS http://pepsgroup.org/ which is an org in the area that I live that has really taken off. Good luck with your 2010 goals! :)
