So, I have people coming to my house in about three hours for a party I just started buying food and drinks for about an hour ago. I have the heart of a party-thrower and the motivation of a sloth. But, it'll come together, right? I always think these things have to come together and if they don't, I always assume: that's why God invented beer. To shove into the hands of those making funny faces at your laundry pile. The one that's sitting on your coffee table.
(Kidding! Our laundry pile is currently next to our coffee table!)
To put off the frantic cleaning just a wee bit longer, I've thought of a fantastic post idea. (I'd like compliments for this one, friends.)
I was driving home yesterday from getting my hair cut (it's cute; I should take pictures) and I was thinking about our upcoming ONE-YEAR-WEDDING ANNIVERSARY (!!) and what I should post about. For whatever reason, one of Dooce's old posts came to mind—and it's easily one of the best things I've read by any writer. I wondered if I could just link to it on May 19 and call it a day. I concluded that, no, I should think up original thoughts but then I wondered what your favorite blog posts are. What posts have you read by other talented, funny women and men that have changed your day (your month, your year), changed your perspective, made you cry, made you forward the post on to everyone you know because not having those words in their lives was UNACCEPTABLE. I would love to know your selection(s)—either through a link in the comments or via e-mail—and if I'm feeling particularly crazy come Monday, I'll make a "Best of Blogging" list so everyone can access the brillance in one, handy location.
In order to inspire you, here are my top five picks:
It was hard to pick just one but this particular one—by Holly at Nothing But Bonfires—may be my favorite. It's about heartbreak and how it usually works out as it should.
Oh, I cry every time I read this one by Finslippy.
Brave, beautiful—similar to everything else Linda at All & Sundry writes.
Amalah's Love in a Time of Madness.

Leah did something similar to this a few weeks ago, too. I bet her comment section is worth a once-over.
