I like music, but I don't seek out music the way I should. Or the way I used to. Or the way I'd like to.
That's why I added a list item (sidebar!) about discovering a new artist or band once a month this year. That's kind of pathetic to some of you, those who discover new music as often as you change your underwear, but I have to own who I am.
Hi, I'm Jennie. I listen to the actual radio in the car. And I own an Ashlee Simpson CD. Or two.
So when I asked for musical recommendations the other day to help me along, and someone mentioned Mumford & Sons (was it Kerri? I think it might have been), I added them to my Pandora station and kind of forgot about it.
Over the next few days, though, every single incredible song that played out of my speakers was from this group. They are unique and haunting and beautiful and aching and refreshingly hopeful while still being kind of sad, too. I just love everything about them.
From "Sigh No More" & "The Cave," two great songs to start with.
"Love that will not betray you,
dismay or enslave you,
It will set you free"
*
"But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again"
They're playing in concert in November, and I'm trying to find someone to go with me. How about you?
